Murphy’s Law states that “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong at the worst possible time.”

O’Reilly’s law says “Murphy was very optimistic”.

I just received this email from MacGyver fan, Chris Sprague.

Three Microsoft engineers and three Apple employees are traveling by train to a computer conference. At the station, the three Microsoft engineers each buy tickets and watch as the three Apple employees buy only a single ticket.

“How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?” asks a Microsoft engineer.

“Watch and you’ll see,” answers the Apple employee.

They all board the train. The Microsoft engineers take their respective seats, but all three Apple employees cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the restroom door and says, “Ticket, please.”

The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes the ticket and moves on. The Microsoft engineers saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. So after the conference, the Microsoft engineers decide to do the same on the return trip and save some money.

When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Apple employees don’t buy any ticket, at all.

“How are you going to travel without a ticket?” asks one perplexed Microsoft engineer. “Watch and you’ll see,” answers an Apple employee. When they board the train the three Microsoft engineers cram into a restroom and the three Apple employees cram into another one nearby. The train departs.

Shortly afterward, one of the Apple employees leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the Microsoft engineers are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, “Ticket, please…”

Not sure why, but this picture made me laugh out loud. It has to be one of the best “What the Hell??” pictures I’ve seen in a long time.

What the hell has Obama done to win a Nobel Peace Prize?

The answer is NOTHING! He hasn’t stopped any wars, he hasn’t solved any world problems, he hasn’t even helped do any of these things?

His own troops are still at war in Iraq, his country is still reeling from economic crisis.

This is just absolute BULLSHIT!!

I’ve just been doing some page editing and file uploading on my web site. And while I was uploading some files via the FTP program it occurred to me as I dragged the files from my C drive window over to my server window just how much the internet has broken down our confinements and boundaries.

Here I am sitting  at a computer in New Zealand with two windows on my screen, one is my own hard drive and the other is a computer sitting in the USA and I’m transferring information onto that US computer in the blink of an eye simply by dragging a little icon from one window to the other.

Could there be a better example of how the internet has removed our restrictions of distance and time.? Geographical location and time mean nothing in Cyberspace. It doesn’t matter where a computer is, or what time it is because the internet is just one giant melting pot of cyber-consciousness that never stops working.

The internet really has broken down our boundaries.

I ran a virus scan last night and the scanner has decided that the Matrix screen saver – which apparently is buried somewhere in a system restore file – is a virus.

It’s weird that it never use to be a virus. Does this means that the Matrix has changed? is it evolving? Are the machines turning against each other? Is this the end of the…um…. “world” as we know it?

This idea has been around for a while, but now New Zealands largest news company is looking at charging for it’s online news.
